Once upon a time, this West African kid would sit in front of a Compaq computer waiting for Juno (or AOL) to load (dial up) and hoping my parents wouldn’t pick up the landline phone. As a young man filled with ambition, dreams and aspirations, I had always been captivated by technology and the immense possibilities it offered. I spent countless hours at Borders bookstore exploring and learning everything I could about programming and software development. I could not afford the books so Borders became my library.
As the years went by, my passion for technology only grew stronger. While pursuing my degree, I self-educate myself to gain hands-on practical experience. I would then go door to door throughout Atlanta looking for a company to take a chance on hiring me; it did not happen so I decided to start my own technology business in college. I had a successful run but a short run due to the dotcom bubble.
When I finally got the chance to start my career at a fast growing technology start up; my dreams and aspirations was to one day lead the overall technology function, innovation, product strategy and bring a vision to life on a technology platform. Always bringing my entrepreneurial spirit to any role I had; My vision was to one day be a CTO!
Driven by a relentless desire to learn and grow, I seized every opportunity that came my way. I actively sought out challenging projects and eagerly took on leadership roles within my team. With each new responsibility, I honed my technical knowledge and developed strong leadership qualities.
I have been blessed with a remarkable journey leading technical teams in the areas of marketing technology integrations, digital development, customer service delivery, product development, consulting and operations. My leaders, mentors and my amazing family have provided unwavering guidance and support. I have faced moments of self-doubt and encountered obstacles that seemed insurmountable. However, I persevered, drawing strength from bringing my authentic self to work and unwavering belief in my abilities.
As I reflect on my journey to CTO, I realize that my path to becoming a CTO was not merely about acquiring a title but about embracing a mindset of constant growth, seizing opportunities, and leading with passion and purpose. I am filled with a renewed sense of determination to continue pushing the boundaries and leaving an indelible mark on the world.
I am excited for this new beginning and building new growth stories in my life journey.
